About Collections

Ibrahim’s collections are organised into thematic groupings and interconnected bodies of work, each exploring different dimensions of the human experience. Drawing from personal experiences, Yoruba philosophy, biblical narratives, and the realities of contemporary society, the collections reflect on identity, belonging, spirituality, migration, relationships, and our shared humanity. Together, they reveal an evolving artistic inquiry into the connections that bind us beyond social, cultural, and racial boundaries.

Omileyan Series

Inspired by the Yoruba proverb “Omi ni ènìyàn, kò sí ibi tí a lè ṣàn dé” humans are like water; there is nowhere we cannot flow to—this collection reflects on global migration, human mobility, interconnectedness, and our capacity to adapt to changing circumstances. Like water, we move across boundaries, navigate unfamiliar territories, and find new ways to belong. The collection celebrates human resilience and the unpredictable nature of life, reminding us that our paths may cross again in unexpected places. Ultimately, it is a call for kindness, meaningful relationships, and a recognition of our shared humanity, wherever life takes us.

Fractured Memories

This collection features abstract figures created during the Ubuntu art residency in Zanzibar, Tanzania, where I captured images not as conscious, detailed representations, but rather from memories, allowing for abstraction in exploring our connection to our roots.
